The US government plans to fulfill President Donald Trump's promise in the next few weeks to provide a number of exceptions to the previous ban for US companies wishing to do business with Huawei.
US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said on Sunday that licenses that allow US companies to sell components to Huawei could be approved "soon".
In an interview with Bloomberg, the official said a deal between the United States and China was expected to be signed this month, noting that the government had received 260 requests for a license to do business with the Chinese company. βThere are a lot of applications - frankly, more than we thought,β Ross said.
As expected, among them is an application from Google, the approval of which will again give Huawei phones access to Google Play applications.
