DICE broke Battlefield V's battle royale in the latest patch, but is already preparing the next update

Let us remember that the battle royale mode β€œFirestorm” was released almost a year ago. Since launch, it has been plagued by countless problems: the loot system, for example, scatters items after the player dies in such a way that they cannot be collected efficiently. And it's still relevant. Players hoped that at least the mode's major flaws would be fixed, but little has changed in almost a year. Those who keep coming back have learned to live with Firestorm's shortcomings. But in December, the regime was dealt another blow with the release of patch 5.2.

Patch 5.2 was DICE's second attempt change time required to kill (Time to kill, TTK). The studio has adjusted the balance of almost every major weapon. The intention was to create specialized roles for different weapon types and make it easier to survive long-range gunfights.

Just like the original TTK, the gaming community poorly received changes in patch 5.2. And instead of complying with the developers' plans, they began to use weapons that least of all affected by the update.

As for Firestorm, DICE didn't even bother to separate the mode from the rest in terms of balance adjustments. Almost as if he had been completely forgotten. Players were even more convinced of this after they checked the effect of the update in the mode. As bullet damage has decreased, especially at range, the number of bullets required to kill a single player has increased significantly.

In Firestorm, players initially have 150 health points, as opposed to the standard 100 in the main modes. Add to that the armor protection - three levels of 50 health points each - and you get dozens of cutscenes in which players are forced to shoot entire magazines at enemies to kill them.

In battle royale, players cannot choose their weapons, which creates an even bigger problem when you can end up with one of the statistically worst weapons.

Recently D.I.C.E. shared plans for further changes in accordance with user feedback. True, they mainly concern combat at close and medium range, so it is unknown whether the upcoming update will help Firestorm.

Battlefield V is out on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
