Silent Hill monster designer is a key member of the new project's team

Japanese game designer, illustrator and art director Masahiro Ito, best known for his work as Silent Hill's monster designer, is now working on a new project as a core member of the team. He announced this on his Twitter.

"I'm working on the game as a main contributor," he noted. “I hope the project will not be cancelled.” IN in his next tweet Mr. Ito added: “I can’t say anything about all this yet.” Finally, half an hour after his first tweet, he wished everyone a “happy belated new year” by showing a concept from a canceled retro-futuristic horror film set in Russia that he had once worked on at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Masahiro Ito previously shared this illustration in a since-deleted tweet from March 2017, and has also used it as a background image for his website since February 2012. In 2018, Ito confirmed that the game was in development from 2008 to 2010, after which it was shelved. It is not clear whether that project is related to the new game that Mr. Ito is now working on. At the very least, a dark game about Russia from a famous designer may turn out to be interesting, at least visually.

Ito was the monster and background designer on the original Silent Hill and later became art director on Silent Hill 2 and Sill Hill 3. He most recently worked on NightCry as a monster designer in 2016 and on Metal Gear Survive as a creature designer in 2018 .
