On the website of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), according to the LetsGoDigital resource, Intel's patent documentation has been published describing unusual smartphones.
We are talking about devices equipped with a camera system for panoramic shooting with a coverage angle of 360 degrees. Thus, the design of one of the proposed devices provides for the presence of an edge-to-edge display, in the upper part of which a camera lens is integrated. It is curious that this module is somewhat shifted to the side from the center.
In the back of the described smartphone is also a display with a built-in camera. True, this panel occupies about a third of the rear surface area.
It is assumed that such an unusual design will open up qualitatively new opportunities for users to take photos and record video.
Another smartphone described in the patent documentation is equipped with a single front screen without side frames. This device has a front camera located on the top edge of the case. There is a single camera on the back.
Finally, the third version of the smartphone in terms of display layout is similar to the first version. The cameras of the device are built directly into the area of ββthe screens, and the rear camera is made in the form of a double module with optical blocks spaced along the edges.
Intel Corporation filed patent applications back in 2016. Whether the IT giant is going to create commercial versions of such devices is not yet clear.
