James Dean to be revived in CGI for Vietnam action movie

It became known that James Dean (James Dean), who died at the age of 24 in a car accident in 1955, will unexpectedly return to the big screen. An American superstar of his time will be able to star in a movie after his death thanks to computer graphics - experts use archival footage and photographs to recreate a digital image of the actor for the Finding Jack project. At one time, the actor became famous in such films as "Rebel Without a Cause" in 1955 and "East of Paradise" of the same year.

Directors Anton Ernst and Tati Golykh are working on the project with their own newly formed company, Magic City Films, which obtained the rights to use Dean's image from his relatives. Canadian visual effects studio VFX Imagine Engine will work alongside South African VFX MOI Worldwide to recreate what is claimed to be a realistic version of James Dean. He will be voiced, of course, by another actor.

Adapted by Maria Sova, the screenplay from Gareth Crocker's Finding Jack is based on the fact that over 10 war dogs were abandoned by the US Army in Vietnam. Some soldiers were not satisfied with the need to leave their four-legged friends - one of them, Carson Fletcher, decided to ignore the order and return home with his dog Jack. In turn, Dean will "play" a minor character named Rogan.

β€œWe were looking everywhere and everywhere for the perfect character to bring Rogan to the screen, who has some extremely complex character traits, and after several months of research, we chose James Dean,” said Mr. Ernst. β€œWe are honored that his family supports us and will take every precaution to ensure that the legacy of one of today's most epic movie stars is preserved intact. The family sees the project as Dean's fourth film in which he was unable to appear. We're not going to let our fans down."

Pre-production for Finding Jack will begin on November 17, with a global release scheduled for Veterans Day in the United States on November 11, 2020. Magic City Films will handle promotion outside of the States. The filmmakers hope that the CGI technology used to bring Dean back to life on screen can soon be rolled out to other famous personalities.

β€œThis opens up completely new opportunities for many of our customers who are no longer with us,” said Mark Roesler, CEO of CMG Worldwide, which represents the Dean family along with over 1700 entertainment, sports and music celebrities. and so on, including Burt Reynolds, Christopher Reeve, Ingrid Bergman, Neil Armstrong, Bette Davis and Jack Lemmon.

Many took the news ambiguously, especially in the acting environment. For example, Elijah Wood posted on twitter: "No. This shouldn't happen." A Devon Sawa said: "They couldn't give this role to a real person?".
