The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) initiated a case against Apple in connection with the company's actions in the distribution of applications for the iOS mobile operating system.

An antimonopoly investigation was launched at the request of Kaspersky Lab. Back in March, a Russian antivirus software developer addressed to the FAS with a complaint about the Apple empire. The reason was that Apple refused to place the next version of the Kaspersky Safe Kids application for iOS in the App Store, citing the fact that it did not meet one of the requirements of this store.

It was reported that the use of configuration profiles in the named Kaspersky Lab product is contrary to the App Store policy. Therefore, Apple demanded that they be removed so that the application could pass the audit and be placed in the store.

Apple's actions led to the fact that the next version of Kaspersky Safe Kids lost a significant part of its functionality. “At the same time, at the same time, Apple introduced to the market in iOS version 12 its own Screen Time application, which in its capabilities coincides with applications for parental control,” says the FAS materials.

Therefore, the antitrust authority concluded that Apple's actions in imposing vague requirements on developer software and rejecting versions of software previously distributed in the App Store contain signs of Apple's abuse of its dominant position in the iOS application distribution market.

FAS Russia scheduled the hearing of the case for September 13, 2019. There have been no comments from Apple yet.
