GDC: Developers More Interested in PC and PS5 Than Xbox Series X

The organizers of the Game Developers Conference conducted an annual survey of the state of the gaming industry among 4000 developers. From their responses, GDC found that the PC remains the most popular development platform. When respondents were asked what platforms their last project was launched on, what their current project was being developed for, and what they planned to make their next project for, more than 50% of surveyed developers answered “PC” to every question.

For the first time, the GDC survey included questions about creating games for streaming platforms. At the moment, few developers seem interested in this technology. Only 6% are currently making a game for Google Stadia, and only 3% are making a game for Project xCloud.
