GitHub moved the ipmitool repository to read-only mode without warning

GitHub forcibly and without prior warning moved the IPMI Tool project repositories to archive mode, allowing read-only access. Also, all repositories of Alexander Amelkin, who maintains ipmitool, have been switched to read-only mode. The ipmitool package is included with RHEL, SUSE, Debian, and other Linux distributions and is the most common open source command-line tool for managing, monitoring, and configuring servers with BMC controllers that support the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) standard.

The restriction was introduced without explanation of the reasons, but according to unofficial information, the reason for the restrictions was that Alexander was employed by Yadro, which was included in the blocking US sanctions list at the end of February. All GitHub repositories with open projects of this company, as well as employee repositories, have been switched to read-only mode.
