Huawei Vice Chairman Xu Zhijun outlined the company's position in relation to the rapidly developing electric car market.
Previously, there were rumors that the Chinese telecommunications giant is eyeing the electric car market. Now, however, Mr. Zhijun has said that Huawei has no intention of building electric vehicles.
According to the head of the company, the corresponding possibility was studied until October last year. However, then it was concluded that there are already enough manufacturers designing electric cars on the market.
Instead of producing its own electric vehicles, Huawei will focus on developing technologies that will help other companies develop the industry. We are talking primarily about network solutions and cloud platforms.
In addition, the company will create systems that will help improve the driving experience. Finally, elements of the "cockpit" of the cars of the future will be designed.
Huawei also believes that the deployment of fifth-generation (5G) networks will lead to the rapid development of advanced automotive technology.
