The Indian government has allowed Huawei Technologies to participate in 5G testing, a spokesperson for the Chinese telecom company told local broadcaster CNBC-TV18 on Monday. Testing of 5G technology will take place in the country in January 2020.
The United States is currently putting all sorts of pressure on its allies not to use Huawei telecommunications equipment in building their 5G networks. Therefore, India's decision may cause criticism from the United States and its allies.
According to CNBC-TV18, the government's telecommunications department will hold a meeting with operators on December 31 to confirm the timing of 5G testing. It is also reported that all wireless operators in India have generally received permission to conduct the trials.
