Intel invites you to OpenVINO hackathon, the prize fund is 180 rubles

We think that you are aware of the existence of a useful Intel product called Open Visual Inference & Neural Network Optimization (OpenVINO) toolkit - a set of libraries, optimization tools and information resources for developing software using machine vision and Deep Learning. You also probably know that the best way to learn any tool is to try to make something with it from scratch. If both theses do not cause any objections in you, then you are morally ready to take part in the OpenVINO hackathon, which Intel is holding in Nizhny Novgorod from November 30 to December 1.

And Nizhny Novgorod, by the way, is less than 4 hours from Moscow by Lastochka. This is another argument in favor.

Anyone with at least some programming experience in C or Python is invited to participate in the hackathon. Register you can do it with a whole team at once, or you can do it alone - it will be interesting for everyone.

Absolutely any ideas are accepted for development. The task of the participant teams is to propose the use of computer vision algorithms based on neural networks to solve one or more applied problems. In addition to the idea, it is required to demonstrate a prototype of the solution or its part using the Intel OpenVINO toolkit software product, as well as to evaluate the complexity of implementation and deployment.

Examples of directions and topicsSafety

  • Detection of anomalies in people's behavior: aggressive movements, wandering (the duration of a person's presence on stage is suspicious), falls (medical assistance is needed).
  • Roadside assistance: monitoring the driver's condition, analyzing the traffic situation, predicting accidents in order to prevent them, detecting and recognizing license plates.

Retail & Entertainment

  • Computational photography. Using Convolutional Neural Networks to improve image quality / post-processing. Integration of deep learning solutions with web services (chat bots, Web GUI).
  • Recommender and adaptive systems based on predictions of gender, age, emotions and other user attributes.
  • Recognition of visitors, indoor tracking, analysis of the time of stay and visiting areas.
  • Human posture assessment: sports trainer, 2D and 3D skeletal animation, gesture control.

Industrial

  • Smart factories and enterprises: production safety control (left tools, forbidden to visit the territory), process automation, anomaly detection.
  • Deep learning for home: security systems, auxiliary devices
  • Agriculture: detection of pests, plant diseases.

Each team will be provided with a Raspberry Pi 3 board and a hardware accelerator during the hackathon Intel Neural Compute Stick 2. On work laptops, it is recommended to pre-install Intel OpenVINO toolkit and and check its work.

The winners of the hackathon will receive cash prizes: 1 rubles for 100st place, 000 rubles for 2nd place, and 50 rubles for 000rd place.

So, let's meet on the morning of November 30 in Nizhny Novgorod at Pochainskaya street, 17 building 1. Come and visit us!
