Volkswagen is being sued again for violating diesel emissions regulations, this time in Canada.

History repeats itself – Volkswagen starts dieselgate in Canada

The Canadian government announced on Monday that the German automaker Volkswagen was charged with importing cars into the country that violated emission standards, while realizing the danger of their actions to society.

The German company faces 58 charges of violating the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, as well as two charges of providing misleading information to the authorities.

In total, between 2008 and 2015, Volkswagen imported 128 diesel-powered vehicles to Canada that were equipped with software to falsify emissions test results.

In this regard, the company said that it is cooperating with Canadian investigators in investigating the circumstances of this case, and that it has already prepared a plea agreement.

“At the hearing, the parties will submit a proposed plea agreement to the court and seek approval,” Volkswagen said in a statement. "Details of the proposed plea order will be presented at the hearing."
