KinoPoisk launched the DeepDive neural network, which can recognize the appearance of actors in films and TV shows. This allows you to find out which of the actors is currently on the screen and what roles he played. The technology is based on the developments of Yandex in the field of machine vision and software developments of KinoPoisk in the field of machine learning. The database is the encyclopedia of the resource.

It is enough to pause the video for DeepDive to analyze the frame and give information about the actors, including those in complex makeup. The system can reportedly recognize Robert Downey Jr. in the first Iron Man (2008) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Neronet also recognizes Zoe Saldana as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy. She is wearing green make-up.

In some cases, DeepDive not only recognizes the actors, but also reports the names of their characters, gives information about the hero, and so on. This helps if the previous season or episode was a long time ago. Character descriptions are edited by KinoPoisk.

As noted, at the moment the system works in more than one and a half hundred films and series available by subscription. Among them are "Wonderworkers", "Academy of Death", "Manifesto", "Project Blue Book", "Pass". A complete list is available at the link. Also, since yesterday evening, April 11, the technology was launched in the KinoPoisk web application.

Note that neural networks are increasingly being used to automate routine operations in all areas. As expected, in the future they will be able to take on even more tasks, ranging from facial recognition for identification to the creation of full-fledged autopilots and robots.
