China has begun developing 6G technology

According to Science and Technology Daily, the newspaper of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, ministries and research institutes met this week to create a national research and development team for 6G technologies.

This comes days after the country's three largest telecom operators - China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom - launched 5G mobile services across the country.

Beijing previously planned to launch 5G services with support for new features early next year, but then decided to speed up the plans due to rising trade tensions with Washington.

5G technologies, which offer data speeds at least 20 times faster than 4G networks, have become a key aspect of the conflict between the United States and China in recent months. The confrontation between the two countries has negatively affected the activities of Huawei Technologies, the world's largest supplier of telecommunications equipment, which is actively involved in the deployment of 5G networks in many regions of the world.
