Proletariat Studios has announced that fantasy battle royale Spellbreak will be released on PlayStation 4 and PC in the first half of 2020. A closed beta test is planned for the spring.
In Spellbreak, you take on the role of a battle mage and combine primordial elements to cast spells. Movement abilities include flight, teleportation, shadow steps, and many other abilities.
βWe wanted to explore something different, something that harked back to the fantasy books we read as children,β explained Proletariat CEO Seth Sivak. βWe took inspiration from old-school shooters with crazy mobility that required advanced shooting skills, and added some modern elements to make a combat system that truly embodies the combat spells of fantasy. Add to this our desire to weave battle royale with roguelite and RPG elements, as well as a gorgeous art style, and you have what we think is completely unique.β
Spellbreak's gameplay will be skill-based. In the project you will be able to use double magic gloves, each of which has two different abilities, which gives four active combat capabilities and many combinations. Runes provide modes of movement and support abilities. By combining spells, you can lift yourself into the air or launch a fiery tornado at your opponents, quickly slide down the ice or create an ice trap for your enemies.
