Samsung spoke about the device of the unique PTZ camera, which was received by the Galaxy A80 smartphone, about three months ago.
Recall that the named device is equipped with a special rotating unit that performs the functions of both the main and front cameras. This module contains sensors with 48 million and 8 million pixels, as well as a 3D sensor for obtaining information about the depth of the scene. The LED flash completes the picture.
Samsung says that developing the PTZ camera proved to be quite a challenge. In order for the camera to slide out of the device and then rotate, two motors were required - too many, given the available space in the smartphone body. Therefore, the company's engineers proposed a unique solution.
The design of the rotary block includes a mechanism with blocking "teeth", a hook and a torsion spring. Such a system does not require additional parts and at the same time prevents premature rotation of the camera. True, the solution required an optimization of the motor so that it was able to provide vertical sliding and rotation of the camera.
In addition, Samsung has optimized the camera module itself, as the functionality for front and standard shooting is different. The accompanying software has also been improved.
