Linus Torvalds, creator of the kernel Linux, and Linus Sebastian, the author of the YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips, made a joint video in which they tried to build the perfect PC for Linux, while discussing the choice of components and talking about kernel development and Torvalds' hobbies.
The computer was configured with an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9960X CPU, an Intel Arc B580 graphics card, a GIGABYTE TRX50 AERO D motherboard, a Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB SSD, a Noctua NH-U14S TR5-SP6 cooler, a Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 1600W 80+ Titanium power supply, and a 31.5-inch ASUS ProArt PA32QCV (6K HDR) monitor. It's worth noting that Torvalds also used an AMD Ryzen Threadripper (3970x) CPU on his previous workstation. The hardware was selected to run smoothly with the vanilla kernel's stock drivers. LinuxThe key features of the choice included the use of ECC memory, a quieter cooler if possible, and an Intel Arc B580 graphics card instead of the AMD Radeon series expected in such a configuration. Torvalds uses Fedora as his distribution.
