Lunar "elevator": in Russia, work begins on the concept of a unique system

We are talking about creating a special transport module that could move cargo between the lunar orbital station and the natural satellite of our planet.

It is assumed that such a module will be able to land on the moon, as well as take off from its surface to fly to the orbital station. Thus, the system will allow the transport of various cargoes between the Moon and the platform in orbit, which will help in the colonization of the Earth's natural satellite.

The development of a lunar β€œelevator”, if approved, will take many years and enormous funds. Earlier, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that the possibility of commercializing the project in order to compensate for the costs would be considered. In this case, the β€œelevator” will lower cargo from the circumlunar station to the Moon on the order of international partners.

One way or another, it is too early to talk about the practical application of the system. In the near future, Russian specialists will only evaluate the concept of the transport module. After that, a decision will be made on the feasibility of the project.
