Microsoft will improve the quality of driver updates on Windows 10

One of the long-standing problems of Windows 10 is automatic driver updates, after which the system may display a “blue screen”, not boot, and so on. The cause is often incompatible drivers, so Microsoft often has to deal with the consequences by blocking the installation of a new version of Windows 10.

Now the scheme of actions will change. According to an internal document, Microsoft will transmit to its partners, including Intel, HP, Dell and Lenovo, specially generated patches without changing unsupported drivers. Simply put, if this or that hardware requires an old driver, it will not be updated forcibly along with OS components or as part of patches.

According to the company, the device will work with old drivers until the corresponding service update is released. This will avoid a number of problems, including “blue screens of death” and other things.

Additionally, Microsoft is working on another change. According to it, drivers will not be updated the day before and after the monthly Tuesday Patch, as well as two days before and after updating system components. Perhaps this will really improve the performance of the “ten”? Who knows.
