Processing of contactless payments want to move to Russia

RBC publication citing its sources сообщаетthat the National Payment Card System (NSPK) is preparing to transfer to Russia processing processes that are carried out using contactless payment services Google Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. At the moment, the technical aspects of the problem are being discussed.

Processing of contactless payments want to move to Russia

As noted, this initiative was launched in 2014. First, ordinary operations with bank cards were transferred to the Russian Federation, then they offered mandatory authentication of Internet payments. Now it has come to tokenized payments. At the same time, the NSPK denied the development of this idea.

It should be noted that now all such payments are processed by foreign systems, however, in the event of strengthening sanctions, they can be blocked either by the West or by Russia itself. In fact, the situation is repeated with Visa and Mastercard, which refused to service payments with cards of “sanctioned” banks. Then, instead of them, the NSPK was created. It is assumed that the system will deal with all, without exception, domestic financial transactions and will replace international payment systems.

At the same time, experts argue that the income of payment systems from the tokenization of transactions will not bring large losses. And the transfer itself does not threaten users with anything special.

Recall that earlier the State Duma preoccupied the issue of the share of foreign capital in Russian companies. It is planned to make sure that the controlling stake in critical services and resources belongs to Russia. But the bill on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian software on laptops and tablets softened.
