OnePlus significantly improved the camera capabilities of last year's flagship 7T

OnePlus 7T was one of the best flagship smartphones of 2019. The device can still be considered an excellent choice at the moment, since its performance will be enough for most users, and the successor, in the face of OnePlus 8, costs significantly more. Now, with the release of the new open beta version of OxygenOS, the device has received additional benefits.

According to the owners of the smartphone, the latest update adds a slow motion mode at 960 frames per second and the ability to record video in 4K resolution at 30 fps on an ultra wide-angle camera. By the way, the company announced these features for the device at the time of its launch last year. Interestingly, OnePlus did not list them in the official changelog for the update. Perhaps this is due to the fact that developers need to make a few more changes to the software for its normal functioning.

According to XDA Developers, the 48MP Sony IMX568 camera used in the OnePlus 7T does not support 960fps video recording. Based on this, we can assume that the function uses an interpolation method to double the number of frames. This means that ultra-slow motion video captured on a smartphone may not be as smooth as that recorded on other flagship devices.

New features may soon appear in a stable build of OxygenOS if user feedback on their functioning is positive.
