According to official representatives of the Central Bank, 36 banks have already connected to this system, but at the moment only 8 of them are testing payment for goods and services. The Central Bank assumes that the system will be fully deployed this year. The purchase process takes place with the help of new technology: for this, in the corresponding mobile application of the store, you must select the payment method "via SBP".

The new payment method is reportedly beneficial for both buyers and sellers. The new system allows merchants to avoid high acquiring fees and provides buyers with a more convenient shopping experience. Experts noted that payment via a QR code in the case of an online store is inconvenient, since the client cannot scan the code on the screen of his smartphone, and entering details requires too many additional steps and time.

The Association of Internet Trade Companies emphasized that the full-scale distribution of the payment function through the SBP will take place only after Sberbank is connected to it.

“Many Russians are clients of this credit institution, and the technology will not become popular until the corresponding function appears in its mobile application for paying by QR code or through an “instant account,” said the head of AKIT.

Formerly Central Bank started take a commission for using the fast payment system.
