OPPO, according to the LetsGoDigital resource, has proposed a very unusual version of the camera module for smartphones.
Information about the development is published on the website of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The patent application was filed last year, but the documentation has only just been made public.
OPPO is thinking about a special tilt-and-tilt camera module. This design will allow you to use the same camera as both rear and front.
As can be seen in the patent images, the lift-and-turn unit is quite large. Therefore, it is not entirely clear how the display will look in this case.
It is noted that the camera mechanism will receive a motorized drive. In other words, the module will extend and turn on commands through the software interface. In addition, users can change the position of the block manually.
Most likely, the proposed design will remain a "paper" development. At least, nothing is reported about the possibility of releasing a commercial smartphone with the described design.
