The Basalt SPO company published the distribution kits Alt Server 10.2 and Alt Workstation 10.2, built on the 10th ALT platform (p10 Aronia branch). βViola Workstationβ assemblies are generated for x86_64, AArch64, i586 and Elbrus architectures, and βViola Serverβ assemblies are available for x86_64 and AArch64 architectures. Distributions are supplied under a License Agreement, which provides free use only by individuals. Legal entities are only allowed to test and use is required to purchase a commercial license or enter into a written license agreement.
Main changes in Alt Server 10.2:
- Updated versions of programs: kernel Linux 6.1.79 (optional 5.10.203), samba 4.19, php 8.2, gpupdate 0.9.13.7, admc 0.15.2, gpui 0.2.40.
- The installer has added support for RAID arrays based on Intel VROC (Virtual RAID on CPU) technology with IMSM (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) metadata.
- The mdmon metadata monitoring process for RAID with IMSM, as well as the usbutils package, have been added to LiveCD for recovery after failures (Rescue).
- The gostcrypto, color-prompt-and-man, local-policy, chrony and btrfs-progs packages have been added to the base system.
- In the base system, suspend, hibernate, nslcd and nscd services are disabled by default.
- The default service startup control has been moved from the installer-distro-centaurus package to mkimage-profiles.
- Enabled automatic startup after installing NetworkManager or systemd-networkd.
- 4 installation profiles are offered: Office server, Samba DC Server (AD Controller), Home Server, and Minimal Installation. The Home Server profile offers the MATE graphical environment, while the other profiles offer a console interface.
- A βGroup Policiesβ section has been added to the profile settings, which offers subsections: Administration Tools, Group Policy Templates and Client (enforcement tools).
- The gostcrypto repository has been added to the list of repositories.
- Added the ability to change the terminal prompt color (via the color-prompt-and-man package).
- The method for connecting a repository on removable media has been changed.
Major changes in Viola Workstation 10.2:
- MATE desktop environment has been updated to release 1.26.
- The kernel has been updated to version 6.1.79 (a package with 5.10.209 is optionally available).
- Updated program versions: LibreOffice 7.6.4.1, Firefox ESR 115.8.0, Wine 8.14.1, GIMP 2.10.30, Inkscape 1.2.2, Appinstall 1.4, OpenUDS 3.6.0.
- Added a mode for installation on OEM equipment.
- The package includes: timeshift (a backup utility similar to System Restore in Windows and Time Machine in macOS), alterator-fbi (web interface for remote system configuration) and man-pages-ru.
- The license agreement has been updated.
- In installation profiles for the βGroup Policiesβ section, it is now possible to fine-tune the set of packages to be installed.
- Added installation profile on BtrFS with subvolumes to support timeshift.
