The process of working of a new exploit for iPhone is shown

Recently developer and hacker Axi0mX shared a new exploit called “checkm8”, which allows you to jailbreak almost any Apple smartphone based on an A-series processor. This also applies to models with the A11 Bionic.

Now he опубликовал video, showing the A11-based iPhone X booting up in detailed mode. On a smartphone running iOS 13.1.1, the hack took only two seconds. At the moment, this is the so-called “tethered” method, which requires reinstalling the exploit using a PC every time the smartphone is rebooted. But, obviously, a ready-made solution will appear in the future.

Technically, “hacking” looks like switching the smartphone into DFU service mode, which allows you to remove restrictions on installing applications not from the App Store. In addition, jailbreak allows you to install utilities for modifying iOS and its interface.

The most interesting thing is that it is impossible to create a software patch against such a vulnerability. Obviously, we will have to “change the system.”

Understandably, untethered jailbreaks are the most desirable because they can boot without a host computer. However, the most interesting aspect is the nature of the vulnerability, which is actually built into the processors. It is not yet clear whether this is an architectural error, a manufacturing feature, or something else. At the same time, Cupertino has not yet commented on the situation.
