Vivo officially unveiled its new X300 Ultra camera phone in China. According to Android Authority, the device is capable of raising the bar for smartphone video recording. Vivo confirmed that the smartphone will also be available in international markets at a later date.

The Vivo X300 Ultra is positioned as a camera phone capable of competing with the iPhone in video recording. But let's start with the basic specifications. The device is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and offers 12 or 16 GB of RAM, as well as 256 GB to 1 TB of storage. The smartphone features a 6,82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 3168 × 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz.
The new model also features a 6600 mAh battery. Speaking to Android Authority, Vivo confirmed that the international version will offer the same battery capacity. This is welcome news. For comparison, the Chinese version of the Vivo X300 Pro smartphone has a 6510 mAh battery, but most EMEA markets have a 5440 mAh model. The Vivo X300 Ultra comes with a 100W charger and also supports 40W wireless charging. The smartphone is IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistant.

Vivo's new smartphone is focused on improving camera quality. It features a very impressive rear camera system. The setup consists of a 200-megapixel main camera based on a 1/1,12-inch Sony LYT-901 sensor. This is larger than all previous 200-megapixel cameras, including the main camera of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Like last year's Ultra, the X300 Ultra's main camera has a 35mm focal length. Its image stabilization has a CIPA rating of 6.5. By comparison, the X300 Pro's main camera has a CIPA rating of 5.5. The main camera lens uses a new hybrid 1G+6P design (one glass and six plastic elements) with a proprietary coating, which, according to Vivo, reduces reflections by 20%.
Last year's Vivo X200 Ultra stood out thanks to its 50MP LYT-818 ultra-wide-angle camera (1/1,28-inch sensor size). This year, Vivo is sticking with the same ultra-wide-angle configuration. However, the manufacturer claims the camera has an improved image stabilization system, earning a CIPA 6.0 rating for its ability to stabilize motion shots.

The 85mm periscope telephoto lens retains its 1/1,4-inch format and 200 MP resolution, but now uses an updated Samsung ISOCELL HP0 sensor. According to the manufacturer, autofocus speed has doubled to 60 updates per second. It uses a new Gimbal-Grade OIS system with a 3° correction angle, which, according to Vivo, complies with the CIPA 7.0 rating. For comparison, typical smartphone telephoto lenses compensate for 0,7–1°, while the Vivo X200 Ultra achieved 1,2°.

All three cameras on the X300 Ultra feature optical image stabilization for video recording at all focal lengths. It's most effective with the telephoto lens. The smartphone supports 3D LUT import—three-dimensional color grading tables that allow you to instantly apply preset color styles. Video is captured in 4K multifocal mode at 120 fps, with 10-bit color and logarithmic format. Vivo's logarithmic format is compatible with the professional ACES post-processing workflow. Vivo has created a new Photography App with a built-in 3D LUT library for various color styles. The app also includes Multi-Focal 4K Master Color Video—Vivos proprietary color pipeline.
At the heart of this new color science is a 50-megapixel True Color Lens sensor with 12 spectral channels, ensuring pixel-by-pixel color accuracy and tonal gradations. The Smooth EV algorithm intelligently processes multi-frame HDR data, preserving highlight detail and protecting tonal gradations. The final image can be customized to your liking, from film-inspired looks to rich, saturated colors.
The device's front-facing camera features a 50-megapixel, 1/2,76-inch sensor. It features autofocus and can record 4K video at 60 frames per second.

To complement the 200-megapixel telephoto lens, Vivo has introduced two new teleconverters. The first is a 400mm teleconverter with 17,4x zoom, dubbed the "Cannon 400." The second is a compact 200mm teleconverter with 8,7x zoom, dubbed the "Lipstick 200."

The manufacturer also released a new Vivo Imaging Grip Kit. It's a professional filming cage designed in partnership with SmallRig. The accessory includes multiple cold shoe mounts, quick-access ports, physical zoom and shutter buttons, and a built-in cooling fan for extended video recording.

Vivo announced that the X300 Ultra starts at 6999 yuan (approximately $1013) for the base model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The maximum configuration with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage is priced at 8999 yuan (approximately $1302). The 1 TB version supports satellite communications. A 16 GB/1 TB X300 Ultra configuration with photography accessories will also be available for 11,999 yuan (approximately $1736). The X300 Ultra will be available in green, silver, and black. Sales in China begin on April 3.
