After a series of leaks, publisher Sega and developers Creative Assembly have unveiled their new game, which will be part of the A Total War Saga series. The project A Total War Saga: Troy, as the name suggests, is dedicated to the Trojan War. The launch is likely scheduled for November 27, 2020 - this date has been listed on the but then it was removed.
The announcement video shows how, in the midst of a heated battle near the walls of Troy, the ancient hero Achilles challenges Hector to a fight - he enters the duel, and their fight flows into a black-lacquer drawing on an amphora. The trailer ends with poetic words: “Are mortals equal to the leaves that the wind breaks from the trees.”
The description of the game tells us: “In this legendary age, heroes walked the earth. However, it took only one impulsive act to ignite a conflict that would shake the world. Daring Paris, the Trojan prince, kidnaps Helen the Beautiful from Sparta. Following his ship, the curses of Elena's husband, King Menelaus, fly. He vows to return the fugitive, no matter what the cost! King Agamemnon, the ruler of the “beautifully arranged” Mycenae, responds to the call of his brother. The project draws inspiration from Homer's Iliad and focuses on the legendary events of the Trojan War. Troy promises to develop the Total War series with fresh features based on this semi-legendary work. The game will offer a combination of epic turn-based empire management and exciting real-time battles, with both the Greeks and the Trojans looking at the conflict. The developers will try to lift the veil of myths and legends to show the real events that underlay them.
Players will be able to write their legend from the point of view of one of the iconic heroes who will have to overcome their rivals. They will also build an empire through strategy, government, diplomacy and, of course, war, conquering the vast Mediterranean world of the Bronze Age.
