Chinese drone manufacturer DJI has made significant changes to the prices of its products in response to the increase in duties on Chinese goods by the Donald Trump administration.

The price increase for DJI products was first reported by DroneDJ. This may be the first time on record that a Chinese gadget maker or brand that manufactures primarily in China has added a Trump administration-imposed customs duty to the price of an item for American consumers.

The cost of DJI Mavic 2 series products, in particular, increased by 13%, slightly less than the 15% customs duty Trump announced on Twitter late last month, which took effect over the weekend.

The Mavic 2 Pro quadcopter is now $1729 instead of $1499 as before. The DJI Mavic Air is now priced at $919 (previously $799). DroneDJ noted that most of the Mavic 2 series models became available for purchase again in the US only this past weekend, several weeks after they were unavailable for purchase.

In Canada, the Mavic 2 Pro is still priced at $1499. For EU countries, such as France and Germany, the price of DJI devices in euros also remains within the framework of the company's previous tariff policy.

For the company's specialized products, such as the professional-grade Inspire drone and the industrial-grade Matrice 600 Pro drone, the price in the US is now higher than in Canada by almost 17% and 14%, respectively.
