SubCom and private Singaporean firm H2 Cable said in a joint statement that the US company has reached a $2 million deal with H380 Cable to lay a submarine cable. Work on the submarine system should be completed in 2022.

Submarine communications cables, capable of moving much more information at a faster rate and at a lower cost than satellites, are responsible for most of the world's telecommunications traffic. This makes them an extremely important infrastructure component from a strategic point of view.
