Chipmaker Qualcomm announced on Tuesday that it has entered into a new five-year patent license agreement with LG Electronics to develop, manufacture and sell 3G, 4G and 5G smartphones.
Back in June, LG said that it could not resolve the differences with Qualcomm and renew the licensing agreement regarding the use of chips.
This year, unexpectedly for many experts, Qualcomm also reached a settlement with Apple in April, which cleared the way for the release of iPhone smartphones with its modem chips. However, the chipmaker's shares took a hit in July when Apple bought Intel Corp's modem business for $1 billion.
