This constellation of satellites will allow smart devices around the world to connect to a low-bandwidth network. These could be soil sensors in corn fields or buoys in the ocean. They do not require low latency or high bandwidth networks to transmit their signals, so the requirements on the satellites that serve them are much lower than those used for consumer broadband.

Swarm satellites are so small that the FCC need not worry that they will be difficult to track and that they could pose a danger to other satellites in orbit.
