The US regulator did not support the desire of Boeing to avoid alterations in the electrical wiring of the 737 MAX

Boeing's proposal to leave the 737 MAX's power scheme unchanged has not received support from US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials, Reuters reported, citing an informed source.

The US regulator did not support the desire of Boeing to avoid alterations in the electrical wiring of the 737 MAX

The regulator had previously warned the company that too tight wiring harnesses in the 737 MAX entailed the potential risk of a short circuit, which could cause pilots to lose control of the aircraft and lead to an accident. The 737 MAX is reported to have over a dozen different places where the wire harnesses are too close together.

In response, Boeing told the FAA last month that the wiring harness placement on the 737 MAX met safety standards, so no changes to the wiring design could be dispensed with. The company noted that similar wiring harnesses are placed in the 737 NG airliner, which has been in operation since 1997 and has 205 million flight hours without any problems about it.

Last Friday, according to the source, the federal agency warned the company about its disagreement with its arguments. The agency announced on Sunday that it β€œcontinues to engage with Boeing as the company works to resolve a recently identified 737 MAX wiring problem. The manufacturer must demonstrate compliance with all certification standards.”

The operation of the Boeing 737 Max model was suspended after two plane crashes with her participation in Indonesia and Ethiopia, which killed 346 people. In December, the company suspended production of this aircraft.
