Russia completed the year without space accidents for the first time in a decade and a half

The state corporation Roskosmos, according to RIA Novosti, has summed up the results of its activities in the outgoing year.

In 2019, Russia carried out 25 space launches. The first of these was made on February 21, when the Egyptian satellite Egyptsat-A went into space from Baikonur on a Soyuz-2 rocket.

And today, on December 27, the last launch of this year was carried out. From the first state test cosmodrome Plesetsk, the Rokot light-class carrier rocket was launched, which successfully launched the Gonets-M communication spacecraft into the calculated orbit.

It is noted that for the first time in 16 years, all launches of space launch vehicles were completed without accidents.

In 2019, 13 launches were carried out from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Another eight launch vehicles were launched from Plesetsk. Three launches were made from the Kourou launch site.

In addition, in the outgoing year, Russia made one launch from the new Vostochny cosmodrome. Recall that on July 5, the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with the Fregat upper stage was launched from Vostochny. The main load was the satellite for remote sensing of the Earth "Meteor-M" No. 2-2. 32 small spacecraft acted as a passing load.
