The PC Watch Japan resource provided aggregate data from 24 popular retail sites in Japan, including Amazon Japan online stores, BIC Camera, Edion and several physical networks. The publication writes that the recent surge in the popularity of AMD chips has led to an increase in the market share of desktop processors for the DIY sector to 68,6% in the period from July 8 to July 14. PC Watch writes that this is partly due to the shortage of Intel processors - however, the same problem is observed with the latest AMD processors.

Earlier data shows that AMD processors in Japan have shown steady growth over the past year and a half.
