Happy new year 2020!

Dear users and users, Anonymous and Anonymous! We congratulate you on the upcoming 2020, wish you freedom, success, love and all kinds of happiness!

This year marks 30 years of the World Wide Web, 28 years of the Linux kernel, 25 years of the .RU zone and 21 years of our favorite site. All in all, 2019 has been a mixed year.

Yes, KDE, Gnome and other free projects got better and better right before our eyes, the Linux kernel and the bash interpreter sported the number "5" in the version designation, work on free smartphones rapidly intensified. The openSUSE distribution became independent of commercial companies, and Manjaro acquired a legal entity. The community has finally paid a lot of attention to long-standing Linux problems like useless behavior when running out of RAM, and Wayland began to work much better.

On the other hand, throughout the year, the state's offensive against the freedom of the Web was growing. A patent lawsuit has been filed against the Gnome Foundation. A terrible scandal shook the Free Software Foundation and the GNU project, as a result of which the legendary man Richard Stallman ceased to be the head of the FSF.

The β€œbenevolent lifetime dictator” of the Python language, Guido van Rossum, has also retired. Alas, time is running out - you will not catch it. We, too, are aging and losing our comrades untimely. Let's hope that new generations will make a worthy replacement for us, they will be smarter, more talented and kinder than us, the world will become richer and freer, and Linux and free software will become faster, more powerful and more beautiful!
