According to the online publication RIA Novosti, information about the functioning of the system is posted on the government procurement portal. The purpose of the complex is to protect spacecraft in orbit from collisions with space debris objects.

It is noted that the flight path of 74 vehicles will be accompanied by Roscosmos facilities intended for monitoring outer space. These are, in particular, the International Space Station (ISS), satellites of the GLONASS navigation constellation, as well as communications, meteorology and Earth remote sensing (ERS) satellites.

In addition, the system will accompany manned Soyuz spacecraft and Progress cargo spacecraft during the stages of their autonomous flights.

In 2019–2022 The state corporation Roscosmos intends to spend about 1,5 billion rubles to maintain the functioning of the automated warning system for dangerous situations in near-Earth space (ASPOS OKP). The main task of this platform is to identify dangerous encounters between operating spacecraft and space debris objects and track falling satellites.
