LG has announced the start of global sales of its giant 88-inch 8K OLED TV, first demonstrated at the beginning of the year at CES 2019.
Initially, the new product will go on sale in Australia, Germany, France, Great Britain and the USA. Then it will be the turn of other countries. The TV costs $42.
The 8K trend has emerged this year: manufacturers are striving to create TVs with a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels and support for newer standards, such as HDMI 2.1. The panel of the new LG TV displays an image of 33 million pixels, which is 16 times more than a 1080p TV and four times more than a 4K TV.
In addition to HDMI 2.1, which allows you to watch 8K content at 60 frames per second, the LG TV offers support for Apple's AirPlay 2 protocol and the HomeKit platform, and in "select markets" the TVs will come with built-in Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa voice assistants .
The TV has no speakers. Using Crystal Sound technology, it uses an OLED panel as a membrane to reproduce sound.
