Thoughts are fragmentary and childishly naive, but the unconventional mode of delivery spurred me to action.
Here is the letter received. I publish it in the hope that the Habravchans will find out how e-mail can come when the Internet is turned off, and, if possible, comment on the message itself.
Dear earthlings!
Wendipluck is writing to you from deep space.
I have been watching your planet for a long time, reading its information flows... No, earthlings, I like you. Earth civilization is young, it cannot keep up with civilizations of venerable age, but you will not be denied technical ingenuity. Moving around on wheeled vehicles and transmitting energy through wires is, I tell you, something! Another couple of millions of stellar cycles, and you will rightfully join the friendly symbiosis of space nations.
But the more I like you, the more I am amazed by your social arrangement. How so? Technical specialists, savvy on all four limbs, and can't think of anything more convenient for their own existence?! This is an elementary theory of social stability, hasn't anyone heard anything about it on Earth?! You transmit energy through wires, but you are not able to create a socially sustainable system? I can not believe it.
At the same time, the topic obviously excites you. However, its discussion is absurd on Earth, which I cannot understand. It seems to be technical specialists, experienced, but you behave like embryos during gastrulation.
For example, why discuss what is better: democracy or authoritarianism? Isn't it clear that this is a secondary issue, not worthy of attention. The main question is the decision itself, its purpose and content. And who will make this decision, is it essential ?! Let's say several earthlings collaboratively... or one earthling individually... Does this make the decision worse or better?
Earthlings! You should think about the social structure. And if you yourself do not know what you want, no one will fulfill it with all their desire. You would still start arguing how many finger membranes a legislator should have... Or do earthlings have no webbing on their fingers?.. Well, it doesn't matter. In relation to earthly realities, opposing democracy to authoritarianism is like opposing blondes to brunettes. It has nothing to do with social organization.
The same goes for the struggle for equality, which sporadically shakes your information channels. For some reason, everyone on Earth dreams of equality. That's what I don't understand, that's what I don't understand. Have you, earthlings, completely pupated, what kind of equality can there be in a specialized society?! Specialized - means: individual instances perform various social functions.
Unfortunately, I cannot refer to the social structure in my homeland. My cosmic race has a different physiology and psychology than the earthlings - you simply will not understand. However, I will make a few professional considerations in this regard.
Earthlings, your society is specialized β that cannot be denied. Therefore, no matter how offensive it may sound to you, you are divided into castes.
The first of the castes is associated with the existence of states. From my point of view, there are not states on your planet, but a plubistic implusication, but I will not quibble over trifles. Let there be states, and earthlings working for them - not plebiscitary implusicants, but state servants.
The second caste includes earthlings engaged in endless self-enrichment with material (BSM). You call it a business - no doubt, because of the consonance of the terms: Businessman - BSM. Although endless self-enrichment with material - a more precise and detailed term.
Let it be known to you that BMI is a fairly common mental illness in our Galaxy. Unfortunately, it is incurable. It is impossible to explain to those suffering from BSM that the material has a clearly defined physiological limit, after which it loses its meaning. The transition of goal-setting from the material to the mental allows you to accurately diagnose the disease.
I will make a reservation that beings who do not suffer from BSM can also be engaged in business: those who value not material conquests, but mass action itself as an opportunity to transform the world. Such instances are businessmen, but without signs of BSM. However, they are rare.
The third caste of earthlings is hired workers, the most uninitiative and conservative of all groups. It includes earthlings who work both for states and for Businessmen, but at the same time performing mostly mechanical functions.
Please note that I do not criticize the actions of earthlings and do not indicate what to do with them. In no case! I briefly, extremely briefly and very conditionally outline the castes that have long existed on Earth in order to demonstrate the applicability of the theory of social stability to your conditions.
What is the theory of social sustainability? The fact that under the conditions of specialization, equality of performers is impossible in principle. I'll try to pick up an analogy from earthly life ... Here. It is impossible for a tram driver to demand equality with tram passengers in the right to consume strong drinks while driving, and for passengers to have the right to steer a tram instead of a driver?! In other words, the social functions performed impose certain restrictions on rights.
For example, the caste of civil servants. If any earthly state acts in competition with other earthly states, this caste should be limited in using the resources of other states. Otherwise, there is a conflict of interest. How is it possible to work for one state, and use the resources of another?!
Likewise, public servants should not engage in self-enrichment. Unless, of course, we assume that the state is intended to improve the welfare of its inhabitants. If I were in the place of earthlings, I would make the incomes of civil servants dependent on the incomes of the most massive caste - hired workers. Is it your job to improve the general welfare? Great. In this case, your income is set at the weighted average of the income of the rest of the population.
The restrictions for the Businessmen caste are also clear. If you suffer from MSD, my condolences. Do what you think is useful and right for yourself. However, the path to making government decisions, not to mention the laws of social organization, is closed to you forever.
Thus, the social system acquires a stable character:
- some copies set the rules of society, but cannot use them for the purposes of endless self-enrichment with material;
- other instances are engaged endless self-enrichment with material, but deprived of the right to establish the rules of society;
- only the caste of hired workers - the most massive - having no special opportunities, does not have any tangible restrictions on their rights.
When implementing this plan, specifics should be taken into account. As you know, an unusual method of reproduction is practiced on Earth - sexual reproduction. Therefore, the restrictions imposed on individual specimens should be extended to the next of kin. It is also necessary to establish the procedure for the transition of earthlings from one caste to another - in other words, take into account the function of time. There are no limits here either. The same copy is not entitled to alternately participate in government activities and engage in business. These are occupations of different castes that cannot be combined not only in time, but also in instance.
In a socially stable society, there are no instances that are allowed almost everything, and there are no instances that are allowed almost nothing. Opportunities are balanced by limitations. Each instance has the right to choose the set of features and restrictions that is more suitable for it.
In order to avoid misunderstandings and biased interpretations, I emphasize that the number and characteristics of castes are approximate. No one will forbid earthlings to establish their own criteria for caste, while observing the general principles of social stability. The main principle is: there are no possibilities without limits. The more opportunities, the more restrictions.
Violation of caste restrictions is a crime that is subject to burning with a prominence of the tenth degree. Eg:
- civil servants are punished for the FSB and the use of the resources of competing states;
- Businessmen - for attempts to participate in public administration, especially in lawmaking.
Earthlings, your future is not in the struggle for democracy and equality, but in the creation of a caste society based on the theory of social stability! Correct the logic, otherwise the friendly symbiosis of space nations will have to be postponed.
