Tesla Cuts Model 3 Prices, But Workers Complain Massive Assembly Violations

Earlier this month we reportedthat in the second quarter, Tesla has a record increase in the assembly of cars. Let us briefly recall that from April to June inclusive, 95 electric vehicles of the company were delivered, of which 200 cars were mass-produced Model 77 (550% of total production). Thus, from the first to the second quarter, the growth in production volumes amounted to 3%. This fact was one of the reasons Tesla was able to make cars cheaper. Yes, the company announced that as of today, the base Model 3 configuration is priced at $30, $315 less than the previous price.

Simultaneously with the Model 3 price cut, the company raised the prices of the premium Model X and Model S models. The Model X price rose from $71 to $325, and the Model S price rose from $75 to $315. According to the manufacturer, the price increase will be offset by savings on gasoline (approximately $65) and other benefits from owning and operating an electric vehicle. The company also reduced the cost of the Model 125 in China from 70 yuan to 115 yuan ($9875). Once the company's assembly plant in China is up and running, the price of the Model 3 will be reduced to 421 yuan. In China, the Model X and Model S also became more expensive: 000 and 355 yuan, respectively.

But the most interesting was in a recent publication CNBC. According to Tesla workers from the Fremont factory, the GA4 β€œtent” assembly shop does not allow work to be carried out in acceptable conditions, which leads to a decrease in the quality of assembly of cars. Workshop GA4 has a windswept structure and its roof has begun to leak. There is no microclimate inside the "tent". It's hot during the day and cold at night. During the summer wildfires in California, the room is smoky. You have to work next to heaters in puddles of water.

As a result of the lack of comfort in work, violations in the assembly of Tesla nodes and the omission of a number of checks in the operation of the nodes can be regarded. Thus, workers can simply respond to the management of the company with the same coin, but they themselves claim that they are forced to disrupt the process in order to increase the production of cars. For example, when assembling units in hard-to-reach places, they may not completely tighten the fastening bolts or wrap cracks in plastic with ordinary electrical tape. The company's management calls such cases "anecdotal", but something in the work of Tesla's assembly shops is definitely far from perfect.
