Publisher Activision and studio Infinity Ward have announced plans for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer beta. PlayStation 4 owners will be the first to try out the reimagined game before the studio begins beta testing on other platforms towards the end of September. A short video on this occasion is presented:

The studio plans to conduct two beta tests. The first will take place this coming weekend, starting on Thursday and ending on Monday, September 16th (it will be exclusive to PlayStation 4). Anyone with a current Sony console will be able to play the beta starting Saturday, September 14th (except for those in Germany, who will need a PS+ subscription). Players who pre-order will be able to gain access on September 12th.

The second round of beta testing will take place next week, starting on September 19th and ending on September 23rd. Players who pre-order will be able to participate from day one, while others will gain access on the 21st. The second weekend will also test cross-platform play. Pre-loading of the shooter will open on September 10th.

Activision and Infinity Ward have not fully disclosed what exactly will be tested. It is known that a new 2v2 intense skirmish mode and standard 6v6 battles are being tested. The publisher mentions that additional materials and maps will be released over the weekend, but what exactly is not reported.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 25.
