The unique Russian material-chameleon will help in the creation of "smart" windows

Rostec State Corporation announces that a unique camouflage material, originally developed for the equipment of the "soldier of the future", will find application in the civilian sphere.

We are talking about an electrically controlled chameleon coating. This development of the Ruselectronics holding was demonstrated last summer. The material is able to change color depending on the masked surface and its environment.

The basis of the coating is electrochromic, which can change color depending on the incoming electrical signals. In particular, the material can change color from blue to yellow through green, from red to yellow through orange. In addition, scientists have managed to obtain brown electrochromium, which can be used by the military to create adaptive camouflage coatings.

Reportedly, the researchers have significantly expanded the capabilities of the coating, so that it can be used in various civilian areas. These can be, for example, elements of interior decoration and new advertising media.

Moreover, the material is able to become transparent, which makes it possible to create "smart" glass on its basis, which changes the light transmission when electricity is applied. Thus, it becomes possible to create electrically operated windows that can become opaque at the request of the owner.
