Blizzard will add a microtransaction system to Diablo IV. The lead designer of the project, Joe Shely, spoke about this on streamer Quin69.

Sheley confirmed that the game will feature an in-game store with cosmetic items. He explained that it is too early to talk in detail, and besides, the developers have not yet decided on the format of the game cosmetics.

“Diablo IV will be available as a base game, with add-ons to be released. You will also be able to purchase cosmetic items in the game,” Sheley said.

Previously Blizzard employees told about plans to create Diablo IV. The developers want to make cross-platform multiplayer with MMO-style game events. Producer Allen Adham said there were a few technical issues, but the creators hope to implement cross-play. In addition, the studio promised fans have more than a hundred villages with third-party residents and quests.

Diablo IV announced at BlizzCon 2019. The release date has not yet been disclosed, but the game is announced for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
