Google Chrome is testing a system for monitoring the activity of extensions

It is reported that now the company is trying to solve the problem of illegal and malicious extensions. One of the ways to do this was a system for monitoring the activity of extensions in real time. This feature is not yet enabled by default, but it can already be enabled using the enable-extension-activity-logging flag. After starting it and restarting the browser, you just need to go to the menu Additional tools -> Extensions and find there "View activity log" in the "Details" section.

Data can be both written and stopped fixing. You can also export information to JSON format. The latter feature will obviously be useful for security researchers and users who are interested in third-party extensions. Those that are not installed from the store.

Google is expected to release this feature to the general public as part of a fresh browser update on July 30th. Its appearance, presumably, will simplify the ability to track malicious extensions and generally increase the security of the system.

This is not the only feature currently being tested in Chrome. One more thing, remember is the ability to globally control media playback. This feature will allow you to start, pause or rewind music and videos in any tab. So far, the feature is available in early builds of Canary.
