Moscow trains will have a “smart” security system

An intelligent safety system will be introduced on the Ivolga trains of the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), which monitors the condition of the drivers. This was reported by the Official Portal of the Mayor and Government of Moscow.

The main task of the system is to assess the well-being of drivers. For this purpose, a special bracelet will be used, similar in appearance to a fitness tracker.

Such a gadget will be able to record the deterioration of the driver’s well-being. If a person begins to fall asleep or his condition worsens, a warning sound will sound in the cabin, and a light indicator will light up on the train control panel.

“Within a few seconds, the employee must confirm that he feels well. This can be done using a special alert button in the cockpit. If the driver does not have time to press it, his assistant will also have the opportunity (there are two alert buttons in the cab). If none of the buttons are pressed within five to seven seconds, the system will automatically stop the train,” says the message on the Official Portal of the Moscow Mayor and Government.

It is also noted that the security system includes audio and video recording facilities. Cameras and voice recorders will be located in the driver's cab. They will record the work of employees throughout the trip, including negotiations between the locomotive crew.
