An experiment was carried out in Russia on the simultaneous reception of information from two satellites

The State Corporation for Space Activities Roskosmos announces that a successful experiment has been conducted in our country to simultaneously receive information from two spacecraft.

We are talking about the use of MSPA technology - Multiple Spacecraft Per Aperture. It makes it possible to receive data simultaneously from several spacecraft.

In particular, during the experiment, information was received from the TGO (Trace Gas Orbiter) orbital module of the ExoMars-2016 mission and the European spacecraft Mars Express. Both of these satellites are engaged in the study of the Red Planet.

For the simultaneous reception of readings from two satellites, the Russian Complex for Receiving Scientific Information (RKPNI) was involved. It is located in the Center for Deep Space Communications of OKB MPEI in Kalyazin.

The experiment showed that the reception of information from several satellites at once can be successfully carried out on the basis of the domestic ground-based infrastructure without its significant refinement.

β€œAgainst the background of growing interest in the exploration of Mars on the part of world space powers, the use of this approach is especially relevant, since it allows you to work with foreign spacecraft without compromising the implementation of domestic programs for the study of deep space,” experts say.
