Russia will develop a system of protection against AI technology Deepfake

The Laboratory of Intelligent Cryptographic Systems has opened at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), whose researchers will develop specialized tools for analyzing information.

The laboratory was created on the basis of the Competence Center of the National Technology Initiative in the direction of "Artificial Intelligence". The project involves the company Virgil Security, Inc., which specializes in encryption and cryptography.

The researchers will create a platform for analyzing and protecting photo and video materials using an integrated data protection system and artificial intelligence.

The goal of the project is to protect against Deepfake technology based on artificial intelligence. With its help, you can synthesize a human image and overlay it on a video. Deepfake tools can be used in information wars and therefore pose a threat.

Thanks to the new system, photos and videos will be checked for accuracy and integrity during processing and distributed storage. This will allow you to identify signs of the use of Deepfake tools.

The laboratory invites MIPT students who are interested in cryptography, who know how to work with server programming languages and microcontrollers, who know the principles of video codecs, to join the research.
