Some people inside Valve are still working on the Half-Life series. No, we are not talking about the third episode or the third part of the classic shooter saga (although this cannot be ruled out) - the company simply corrected the problem with non-blinking NPCs in Half-Life 2, which was released 15 years ago.
That's not all. In the recently presented update, Valve also fixed missing sounds for Alliance soldiers, eliminated stuttering when saving the game, and corrected the launch of SteamVR when entering the settings menu. This update applies to Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast and even Half-Life: Source.
All non-scripted NPCs (that is, those who act outside of scripted scenes and cutscenes) in Half-Life 2 stopped blinking about five years ago, after Valve moved Source engine games to the SteamPipe digital content delivery system on its Steam service. The problem may seem minor, but it could still irritate fans, so the developers decided to fix the issue a few years later.
By the way, support 15 years after release is not a record - in 2017 Valve
