Valve has fixed a bug when counting Steam clients on Linux

This data made it possible to calculate the number of Linux users who play Steam games. As of December, Linux share was only 0,67%. It is assumed that the problem was related to the client crashing, which simply did not have time to send the data. This, according to experts, was the reason for the low share of OS in general statistics.

The problem has been appearing on Arch Linux and Gentoo since the beginning of the year, although since 2017 the same or similar flaw has been recorded on Fedora and Slackware. It has not yet been specified when the fix will be released, but it is good to know that the problem has been identified and fixed.

Earlier, we recall ΡΠΎΠΎΠ±Ρ‰Π°Π»ΠΎΡΡŒ about the falling share of Linux in the overall Steam picture. Then it was 0,79%. Perhaps, after the release of ready-made and easy-to-use versions of OpenVR, ACO, Proton and other projects, this will improve the Linux gaming ecosystem and increase its presence in the market.
