Google Corporation, according to Datacenter Dynamics, is testing a specialized system that allows you to dynamically reduce the energy consumption of certain data centers depending on the current load on the local power grid. The new system, as noted, is a further development of the technology for moving loads between different data centers, depending on the level of availability of “green” energy. Google began using the corresponding function in 2020. In this case, we are only talking about tasks for which delays or data sovereignty requirements are not critical - for example, transcoding videos for YouTube or updating the Google Translate dictionary database. Microsoft is implementing a similar tool.
