Chrome OS Release 76

Google company presented operating system release Chrome OS 76based on the Linux kernel, the upstart system manager, the ebuild/portage build tool, open components, and a web browser Chrome 76. The Chrome OS user environment is limited to a web browser, and instead of standard programs, web applications are involved, however, Chrome OS includes includes a full-fledged multi-window interface, desktop and taskbar.

All changes in Chrome OS 76:

  • Added new playback controls to quickly stop or resume audio for a tab or app. The system menu now has a separate section that lists all the tabs and programs that make sound, which allows you to control playback from one place;
  • Expanded the capabilities of the Android environment ARC ++ (App Runtime for Chrome, a layer for running Android applications in Chrome OS). Added support for single sign-on using a Google account for Chrome and Android apps. A new "Google Accounts" section has been implemented in the settings, which supports the connection of multiple accounts and allows you to link accounts to different Chrome and ARC ++ applications;
  • For people with movement disorders, an improved function "Automatic Clicks". In addition to the previously available ability to automatically click when you long-mouse over a link, the new version adds tools to simplify right-clicking, double-clicking, and dragging an element while the button is pressed. In addition to the mouse, the mode can be used with a touchpad, joystick and a device for moving the pointer with a movement of the head;
  • Added support for built-in crypto keys (provided by the Titan M chip) that support the FIDO protocol. The use of these keys for two-factor authentication is currently disabled by default and requires setting the DeviceSecondFactorAuthentication option to U2F;
